Biography
Kareem Jaradat, PhD¶
Assistant Professor of Computer Science Algoma University — Brampton, Ontario, Canada
Dr. Kareem Jaradat is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Algoma University in Brampton, Ontario. He is a full-time faculty member with extensive experience in higher education teaching, software engineering, and applied research in intelligent energy systems.
He earned his PhD in Computer Science from Western University (University of Western Ontario), where he also completed a thesis-based MSc in Computer Science. He holds a BSc with Honors in Computer Engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology, graduating with distinction.
Research Interests¶
Dr. Jaradat’s research focuses on smart energy systems, data analytics, machine learning, and information visualization, with a particular emphasis on reducing residential energy consumption through behavior-aware computing approaches. His work integrates deterministic and probabilistic modeling, time-series analytics, clustering methods, and interactive visualization to improve demand response and smart home energy management systems.
His research has been published in leading peer-reviewed venues including IEEE Access, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, IEEE Canadian Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering, MDPI Sensors, and multiple international IEEE conferences. His work has received several competitive awards, including Best Paper Award at IEEE SmartNets and First Place Research Awards at UWORCS.
Teaching¶
Dr. Jaradat has extensive teaching experience across undergraduate and graduate computer science programs. He has taught and coordinated large-enrollment courses at Western University, managing instructional teams of up to 20 instructors and teaching assistants and classes exceeding 1,000 students.

Prior to academia, Dr. Jaradat accumulated over a decade of industry experience as a software engineer, systems analyst, and full-stack developer. He worked with the Saudi Ministry of Defense and EJADA Systems as a Business Systems Analyst and Senior .NET Web Developer, contributing to enterprise-scale government systems, requirements engineering, and UI/UX-driven application design.
